Dr Sumit Sharma specialises in Psychiatry of Old Age, focusing on mental health and memory concerns in individuals 65 years and over. With 25 years of experience, he is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

He worked as a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist and clinical lead in Glassgow, Scotland before moving to Queensland in May 2021. Since then, he has held an appointment of Senior Staff Specialist in the Older Persons Mental Health Service at Toowoomba Base Hospital.

He is also an honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland’s Faculty of Medicine, with 12 international publications and over 270 citations.

 

Dr Sharma advocates a collaborative, patient-centred approach, working closely with GPs, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, and other Specialists.

Practice Locations

Dr Sharma accepts referrals for inpatient consultations at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital and St. Andrew’s Private Hospital as well as undertaking private outpatient consultations at Infinity Specialists, for patients aged 65 years and over.
