Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders

Parkinson’s disease is a movement disorder, affecting an area of the brain that controls movement.

It is generally characterized by four major physical symptoms:

  • Tremor; shaking
  • Rigidity; stiffness
  • Bradykinesia; slowness of movements
  • Postural instability; difficult with balance

The nature and severity of symptoms, rate of progression and response to treatment differ with each person.
