What is a General Physician

General physicians assist in the diagnosis and management of patients with severe or often complex illnesses and generally continue to care for the patient until the medical problem has resolved. General physicians have a broad range of expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of problems affecting different body symptoms which may include more than one health problem. General physicians are also trained to deal with social and psychological impacts that may accompany a medical condition providing holistic patient care.

Most consultations take place in hospital, however private outpatient consultations are also available. Our General Physician is accepting new patients for both inpatient and outpatient consultations. Once a referral has been received by our administration team an appointment can be organised.

A general physician can consult adult patients for any of the following:

  • Chronic and complex diseases; managing patients with multiple co-morbidities
  • Diabetes management
  • Peri-operative care
  • Investigation of unexplained weight-loss
  • Syncope
  • Headache
